Chairman News

Fall general membership meeting will be at Portland High School on September 12 at 1pm. We will be reviewing the yearly reports of the organization, electing a new chairman and a youth at large representative. If you have any items that you want to submit for the agenda please email them to the current chairman, Dan Coon. Please have them in by Sept 10 to allow time to get them typed in.

working with some of the best HS coaches and three great college assistants Williams, Kulczycki and Degain it is a deal.

In greco both teams place 5th and in Freestyle they placed 6th. Congratulations to Michigan Wrestlers and coaches to achieve these honors. Can anyone tell me when the last time both teams were All-Americans in both styles? Our historian Zack Beck can't remember a time.

Howell did a great job hosting the state tournament this year but it is time to see if you think you can do a better job. We are still working to improve our product - wrestling tournaments at a reasonable price. If you want to submit a bid please do so before July 1 to director@musaw.org

Destination: Canada Cup – Guelph, Ontario (located one hour from Toronto, and Niagara Falls)

Date: July 3rd weigh-in, July 4 wrestling starts 9am, Finals 8pm

Cost: $50 entry fee, $20 transportation if you want to go with the MiUSA group, $80 overnight housing on the university (includes meals)

Weight classes: Junior Men 39- 42 kg, 46, 50, 54, 58, 63, 69, 76, 85,100, 115, 115-130 kg
Born 1992-1995 (2kg weight allowance)

USA Card will be accepted as competition card

Immediate 2 Needs; 1.They wanted our intentions known as of May 1 how many wrestlers were coming (Senior, Junior and Women) but Jon Range has worked out something with them. Let Jon Range know as soon as possible of your intentions.
2. Travel to Canada – requires a passport (4-6wks processing) too late to start now, or The Secretary of State does offer an enhanced drivers license or State ID. The cost is 45.00, and takes 2-3 weeks.

There is a camp following the tournament if you are interested 4th – 9th

The summer clinic/camp series is almost final. Final Details are going to be added over the next couple of days.

All clinics will be open for free to all MUSAW State placers Freestyle or Greco-Roman.
Clinics will be free to all Dual members that have had a partial payment or a full payment made for their trip. Each site will have someone there that will be collecting for the trips. Make checks payable to MUSAW.
All coaches that paid for a coaches pass at the state meet will be allowed free with ID presented - we have the list.
Any other wrestler that may be interested in learning some freestyle, and/or greco, and want to work with the best, at a minimal price can attend any of the clinics for $35, or $10 if you have a USA card. All Dual teams were represented> Coach Joe McFarland showcased U of M new facility in grand fashion. His staff was there working with the teams and he brought in two great technicians, Kevin Vogel and Ryan Churella that lead the teams through some great workout time.

Clinic 2 Oakland University Saturday JUNE 12 8am to 6pm
Cadet and Junior Dual Teams strongly encouraged to be in attendance. Last training session for the cadets before they leave for Minnesota. The Basic plan is to have 4 sessions that day, with breaks. PACK A LUNCH and some drinks. One of those sessions that day will be spent exclusively live wrestling with a Canadian group that will also be in attendance. If you cannot make it the whole day, come for part.

Clinic opportunity Steve Fraser Camps
Many are not aware of Steve Fraser, our Olympic Greco-Roman coach, of how deep his love and pride is for Michigan wrestlers. Not just U of M, but all Michigan wrestlers. He is offering a great helping hand to ALL Fargo bound wrestlers - Fargo payments must in MUSAW hands before this opportunity can be taken advantage of.

Steve is ready to train you for $10 a day at his camp June - if you are going to Fargo to compete. You bring your USA card, show proof of Fargo payment (we will provide him a team list) and check in with him personally when you get to the training session.

National training Camp July 9, 10, 11 Michigan State Universtity in the turf room 10 to 4 each day Bring your own lunch and your own shower supplies. You will need it between sessions.
